Cal Evans is founder, owner, operator and coach of Bangin’ at the Barn, a baseball and softball facility specializing in hitting and pitching located between the cornfields and oak timbers of a working farm in southeastern Iowa. This barn was not built for tractors,it was built for teaching baseball and softball. The Barn has been a big success since 2008 and its reputation is held high with the large number of students the coaching staff works with year after year. Cal has coached for many years at all levels and enjoys helping many of his ball players and students get to that next level of ball.
Doug Thompson has been a pitching instructor at The Barn for nine years now. He has worked with all ages of players from 8 years old to Division One athletes. Doug has helped with the development of numerous 90mph pitchers.
Doug is the Rehabilitation Manager at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, Iowa. He has his doctorate in physical therapy. As a Physical Therapist, he blends peer reviewed research, conventional wisdom, and his playing experiences to help his pitchers achieve their highest abilities.
Doug played collegiate baseball at Muscatine Community College and at the University of Sioux Falls. As a member of USF baseball, he helped them win the GPAC conference, the GPAC Conference tournament, and set team records for wins in a season. He is in the top ten for school history for both wins and winning percentages, compiling a 9-3 record while playing for them for two years.
He played high school ball in Canada where he was a member of five Provincial championship teams, national bronze medalist team, national silver medalist team, and was chosen as an Adidas Junior Elite prospect as one of the top 16 year old prospects in the country.
Doug lives in Ottumwa, Iowa with his wife Jessica and three children: Adeline, Emmett and Eloise. In his spare time he loves coaching softball, archery, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Calvin Mathews grew up in Bloomfield, IA where he helped lead the Davis county Mustangs to 3 straight state appearances and winning the state championship 2011. After high school Calvin attended the University of Iowa where he was a starting pitcher all four years. As a sophomore he earned the title as the Ace of the staff as being the Friday night starter. As a junior Calvin was named 2nd team All Big Ten. After an injury plagued college career he moved back to Bloomfield and is in his 2nd year of giving pitching lessons at Bangin At The Barn.

Cassandra Darrah is the owner of Full Circle Fastpitch. She grew up in Corydon, IA and led the Wayne Lady Falcons to their first State Tournament in 2010, finishing in 2nd place. She fulfilled her dream of playing Division I softball when she became a four year pitcher for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badgers. She is the record holder for highest winning percentage, second in career wins and second in season wins for the Badgers. Cassandra has been giving pitching lessons for 3 years and working softball and pitching specific camps for 5 years. Teaching young girls how to play the game of softball and proper pitching mechanics has been a very rewarding experience for Cassandra. She is excited to continue her dream with Full Circle Fastpitch.

Tyler Evans has played ball all of his life beginning with high end travel ball that made him a great high school player which in turn got him a scholarship to play for two years at Marshalltown Community College,Marshalltown Iowa. He then signed to play NCAA D2 baseball for Newman University in Wichita Kansas where he earned a degree in business. He is currently a partner with his father at Bangin’ at the Barn, a baseball and softball facility in southern Iowa where he coaches and runs the pro shop. He also enjoys helping ball players getting to that next level of ball.
